Molisch’s test is a chemical test which is used to check for the presence of carbohydrates in a given analyte. It also gives positive test for peptides as they undergo hydrolysis to give saccharides. Carbylamine test is given by primary amine. If a primary amine is present, the isocyanide (carbylamine) is formed which is a foul smelling substance. A purple or magenta coloured adduct gives positive Schiff's test for aldehydes.
