(i) Aromatic compounds having +M group can decolourise bromine water.
(ii) Since the compound is insoluble in HCl, it shows that the compound is acidic.
(iii) As the compound is soluble in NaOH, this again shows that the compound is acidic.
The above three conclusions indicate that the compound is aromatic having +M group and acidic.
Hence, the answer is a phenol as it is aromatic and slightly acidic.
