The sexually transmitted infections (STI) or venereal diseases (VD) or reproductive tract infections (RTI) are infections or diseases which are transmitted through sexual intercourse. Among these, HIV infection is most dangerous which is caused by retrovirus.

Gonorrhoea is caused by a bacterium, Neisseria gonorrhoeae, which infects the mucous membranes of the reproductive tract, including the cervix, uterus, and fallopian tubes in female and the urethra in women and men.
