Functions of gibberellins:
(1) Stem/internode elongation.
(2) Elongation of genetic dwarf plants.
(3) Flowering in long-day plants in short light duration.
(4) It induces parthenocarpy.
(5) It is a substitution of vernalisation.
(6) GA breaks the dormancy of seeds, buds and tubers. Gibberellin induces the synthesis of hydrolysing enzymes like alpha-amylase.
(8) GA induces maleness in Cucumis and Cannabis.
(9) Size of grapes & Geranium flowers increased by GA.
(10) It helps in fermentation by increasing the growth of yeast cells.
(11) Increase height of sugarcane plant and malt yield.
