Gibberellins are essential for many developmental processes in plants, including seed germination, stem elongation, leaf expansion, trichome development, pollen maturation and the induction of flowering. They are well known to cause cell elongation of intact plants in general and increase the internodal length of genetically dwarfed plants (e.g., Pea, Corn), in particular. Caution If auxins such as NAA are applied it retards the growth of internode, thus increases the number of dwarf shoots and thus the number of fruits.
