A proximal end of the filament of the stamen is attached to the thalamus or petal, and the distal end is attached to anther.
The terminal, a part of the pedicel, is named the thalamus or torus or receptacle. It's a condensed axis of the flower from which all floral parts arise. Depending upon the gynoecium's position on the thalamus concerning other parts, flowers are of three kinds – hypogynous, perigynous, and epigynous. In many flowers, the thalamus is condensed, and therefore the internodes aren't seen clearly.
