Cleistogamous flowers are the flowers which are bisexual and never opens. Xenogamy occurs by hydrophily, anemophily, entomology and other pollinating agents. Chasmogamous flowers are open flowers which shows both self-pollination and cross pollination. Geitonogamy is type of self-pollination in which pollen of one flower get deposited on the stigma of other flower belonging to same plant. Related Theory Sometimes bisexual flowers remain closed and never open: such flowers are called cleislogamous. In such flowers, the anthers and stigma lie close to each other. When anthers dehisce, the pollen grains come in contact with stigma and pollination takes place. Such a type of pollination occurring in closed flowers is referred as cleistogamy. e.g. Arachis hypogea (Groundnut).
