Mitochondria are rod-shaped organelles that can be considered the power generators of the cell, converting oxygen and nutrients into adenosine triphosphate (ATP). ATP is the chemical energy "currency" of the cell that powers the cell's metabolic activities through aerobic cellular respiration.
Ribosomes are involved in protein synthesis which is accomplished by mRNA and tRNA of the cells. Lysosomes help in digesting non-functional organelles. Chloroplasts also prepare ATP by cyclic and non-cyclic photophosphorylation during photosynthesis.
