The green pigment chlorophyll is located within the thylakoid membrane in the grana. The space between the thylakoid and the chloroplast membranes is called the stroma (Ref. to Fig.) 
Related Theory Chlorophyll is found in virtually all photosynthetic organisms, including green plants, cyanobacteria, and algae. It absorbs energy from light; this energy is then used to convert carbon dioxide to carbohydrates. Chlorophyll is a pigment found in green plants.
