$$SI_1 = \frac{480 \times 5 \times 6}{100}$$SI1​=100480×5×6​

$$SI_1 = \frac{14400}{100}$$SI1​=10014400​

$$SI_1 = ₹144$$SI1​=₹144

Interest for last 5 years = Total Interest - Interest for first 6 years

$$SI_2 = ₹312 - ₹144$$SI2​=₹312−₹144

• Time = 5 years

Using $SI = \frac{P \times R \times T}{100}$SI=100P×R×T​:

$$168 = \frac{480 \times R \times 5}{100}$$168=100480×R×5​

$$168 = \frac{2400 \times R}{100}$$168=1002400×R​

$$168 = 24R$$168=24R

$$R = \frac{168}{24}$$R=24168​

Therefore, the rate of interest for the last 5 years is 7%.
